Qurbani Dua In English
Before Sacrificing, Remember These Points:
- Use a sharp knife to quickly and painlessly cut the animal’s throat.
- Don’t sharpen the knife in front of the animals.
- Feed and water the animal before sacrificing it.
- Don’t drag the animal harshly to the slaughter place.
- Choose a spot where other animals can’t see the slaughter.
- Lay the animal comfortably on the ground.
- Once the animal lies down, sacrifice it promptly.
- Avoid using excessive force that might hurt the animal.
- Don’t slaughter the animal from above the neck, as it causes more pain.
- After slaughter, leave the animal to stretch comfortably.
- Don’t separate the head immediately after slaughter.
- Say “Bismillah Allahu Akbar” while slaughtering.
Qurbani Dua In English
1. Position of the Animal
The sacrificial animal should be placed on its left side, with its face towards the Qiblah (the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca)
2. Recite This Dua Before Slaughtering
اِنِّى وَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِيَ لِلَّذِيْ فَطَرَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ حَنِيْفًا وَّمَا اَنَا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِيْنَ اِنَّ صَلاَتِيْ وَنُسُكِيْ وَمَحْيَايَ وَمَمَاتِيْ للهِ رَبِّ الْعالَمِيْنَ لاَ شَرِيْكَ لَه وَبِذَلِكَ اُمِرْتَ وَاَنَا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِيْنَ اَللَّهُمَّ مِنْكَ وَلَكَ
Inni wajjahtu wajhiya lillazi fatars samawati wal arda haneefan wa maa ana minal mushrikeen. Inna salati wa nusuki wa mahyaya wa mamati lillahi rabbil aalameen. Laa shareeka lah. Wa bi dhalika umirtu wa ana minal muslimeen. Allahumma minka wa laka.
Meaning: “I have set my direction firmly and truly towards Him Who created the heavens end the earth. And never shall I give partners to Allah. Verily, my worship and my sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah Sustainer of the worlds. O Allah this sacrifice is from you and is for you.”
3. Recite this Dua While Slaughtering
بِاسْمِ اللَّهِ اَللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ
Bismillah Allahu Akbar.
Meaning: “In the name of Allah. Allah is the Greatest.”
4. Dua After Sacrifice (Qurbani)
اللَّهُمَّ تَقَبَّلُهُ مِنِّي كَمَا تَقَبَّلْتَ مِنْ حَبِيبِكَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَخَلِيْلِكَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلامُ
Allahumma taqabbal minni kama taqabbalta min habeebika Muhammadin wa khaleelika Ibraheema ‘alayhimas salaatu was salaam.
Meaning: “O Allah accept from me this sacrifice like you have accepted from your beloved Muhammad and your friend Ibrahim. Peace be upon them.”
